I enjoy a wide range of music, from instrumental classical all the way to Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists. My hobbies: Visiting grandchildren, knitting, reading, quilting, counted thread embroidery, piano, e-mail and Internet groups associated with the preceding My favorite Bible verses: But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:7-9).
It was spooky to be there alone at night but the public and workers would be there during the day. While cooking one evening I set off the smoke alarms and the workers living on the property had to come and help me turn it off. I would have evening coffee under the huge trees in the back and feel like I was in heaven. My family includes: Mike, my husband, (I can see his office window at IWU's new communications building from mine); Josh, my ministry-minded son, his amazing wife, Shelly, and my precious, active grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, and Ephram living in Grand Rapids; and Geoffrey, my music-on-the-brain son, a freshman at IWU. My iPod favorites: I love all kinds of music but really enjoy Motown, Jazz, and Blues. Stevie Wonder always makes me smile. My favorite Bible verse: Praise the Lord and forget not all of His benefits . . . (Psalms 103)
My husband Matt, and my three daughters: Amy, Sarah, and Anne Marie. We also have a schizophrenic maltese named Grissom. My iPod favorites: Stephen Curtis Chapman, Celine Dion, Jack Richey, Mark Shultz, Anita Baker and a smattering of many other christian, country, and oldies (60s-80s) artists. My hobbies: Traveling anywhere, visiting zoos, organizing my family, cooking and eating chocolate desserts. My favorite Bible verse/s: The entire book of Psalms because there is a verse applicable to every season, every day of my life.
I've been married for over 25 years and have two kids, a son and a daughter. My wife is my closest friend; my kids are my greatest joy; my family is my greatest support. A marvelous extended family with seven great-nephews, one great-niece (all under ten years), and several additional families that let me be "Aunt Judy." And a four-pound Yorkie named Karlie. He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchardthings like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely (Galatians 5:22-23 MSG). My husband, Lonny, and I have four grandsons; two of whom live in Marion and the other two in Michigan. I also have the most wonderful niece and nephew who I love more than life itself! My iPod favorites: Hard rock, smooth jazz, peaceful instrumentals, but absolutely no country or opera My hobbies: My heart is most content when I am serving others. I was reminded a year ago during some of Pastor Steve's sermons, of how frequently Christ served food. Since I love to cook anyway, making and serving food took on a whole new meaning for me. Such a joy. I also love looking a magazines, planning events, and of course, what is life without shopping? My favorite Bible verse: Picking a favorite Bible verse is a lot like saying what you like most about God. Suffice it to say, God has been gracious and kind enough, over the past few years, to reveal Himself to me through His Word on many occasions. I guess one of my "bedrock" verses would be: "The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple, living in his presence every day of my life, delighting in his incomparable perfections and glory. There I'll be when troubles come. He will hide me" (Psalm 27:4, 5a).
