College Wesleyan Church desires to intentionally resource those in ministry and ministry training. Because of this we have launched a Ministry Development Program including three stages of development. The first stage gains entry level un-paid “Practicum Experience” for those in undergraduate ministry training. The second stage is our “Ministry Intern” position where a student receives a more broad and involved experience for a year in our ministry. The third stage is our “Resident Pastor” position where a ministry graduate gains a full pastoral experience in our church along with the rest of the staff for two years. Starting in the summer of 2009 we will launch into a year which includes 1 Paid Resident Pastor Position, 3 Paid Ministry Intern Positions, and nearly 100 Practicum Students in the program. We plan to expand this program in the coming years with more positions available.

Resident Pastor Position Summary College Wesleyan church is seeking to hire a minister who would work within CWC for two consecutive years as a Resident Pastor in our congregation. This person would work and lead within multiple areas of the church to gain more extensive experience for their future ministry. Our hope is to help equip you with tools and experiences to help maximize future success and fulfillment in ministry and also to see you lead and pastor on the front lines of actual ministry in our church. The Resident Pastor would be part-time paid pastoral staff member and would offer an opportunity for this person to develop as a pastor in a local church (securing another part-time job is encouraged, enrollment in a masters level ministry degree program is allowed concurrently with this position and could prove to be a valuable overlap depending on the degree.) This position would be tailored to the individual’s own interest and passions in ministry, but is not limited to only their preferred area of ministry. A broad and deep experience to develop you for future ministry is intended. The candidate would have the opportunity to work closely with the direct supervisor of that area as well as have opportunity to take leadership in a particular aspect of ministry. This person should passionately love the Lord and be energetic, confident and self-motivated. The Resident Pastor would be a part of the staff at CWC for the entire two years as well as abide by the standards of the theology of the Wesleyan denomination. Overall, this candidate would be a person who desires to grow in their practical ministry experience within the local church to further the kingdom of God .
