Our Community

College Church is located in Marion, Indiana in Grant County. We love our home here in Grant County because there is a diverse blend of people from a broad range of ethnic, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds. With broad expanses of agricultural landscape, we have a front-row seat to God’s handiwork as we watch the seasons wax and wane. Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, flowering spring plantings, and vivid fall landscapes are here for our enjoyment. During the holidays, the Christmas Walkway of Lights draws people out from the cold to wonder at the displays.

We are home to the Marion Philharmonic Community School of the Arts and many other cultural offerings. Education is a big part of our county with Indiana Wesleyan University (directly adjacent to College Church), Taylor University and Ivy Tech Community College. Many students from these institutions make College church their home during their education.

Those who enjoy outdoor recreation make good use of the Cardinal Greenway and the Sweetser Switch Trail, the Mississinewa and Salamonie Recreation Areas, multiple golf courses, and Marion’s Splash House Water Park. History buffs may visit a variety of museums, including the Quilters Hall of Fame, and an annual highlight of our county – Mississinewa 1812, the largest War of 1812 re-enactment in North America. Many marvel at our rich Native American heritage.

Fans of pop culture will appreciate all things related to Grant County’s native son, legendary actor James Dean, including an annual festival and multiple car shows. Other festivals abound throughout Grant County, as well, including Van Buren’s Popcorn Festival, Matthews’ Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival and Gas City’s Boomtown Festival.

While we are populous enough to be home to numerous chain restaurant and stores (including a few Starbucks) we’re particularly fond of our hometown flavors and locally owned businesses such as Ivanhoe’s (100 ice cream combinations), Payne’s Coffee & Custard, Pucci’s, Tree of Life, and pizza from Brooks’ Uppercrust, Chuckwagon, Point, and Rosie’s, to name a few. On top of this the Mexican restaurants in the area are wonderfully authentic and affordable. Check out our local chamber of commerce connections, both of which we are a member of, to discover some the hidden gems in our county.
